Reading @lenadunham newest book Famesick gave me the balls to do this (ish still nervously typing!)She describes a moment where she receives an email from someone who’s read her first book. And says, have you ever thought about the fact that you might have EDS? Lena who had access to the best doctors in the world, found out from someone reading her book that she has Ehlers Dahlos Syndrome.
The average time to diagnosis for hEDS is 22 years. For HSD it’s 17.5 years. Most people spend nearly two decades not knowing. 70% of those diagnosed are female, and women are diagnosed on average almost nine years later than men. Nine years of being told you’re fine.
I’ve been diagnosed for many years with a blur of HSD (hypermobility spectrum disorder) borderline EDS. Unhappy bedfellows if you will.
I’ve wanted to write something about this for a long time but honestly I’ve always felt embarrassed. Because before you get into everything it entails, Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder sounds like, flexibility. It just felt/feels too easy to dismiss. Being hypermobile is actually really common. Up to 20% of the population have joints that move beyond the normal range. HSD is what happens whenyour connective tissue is too flexible, not just your joints, but your organs too. Your gut, your bladder, your whole system is working harder than it should just to hold itself together. There’s a huge nervous system element to all of it. You learned this young. At some point, love felt like it had to be earned. So your nervous system found a solution: keep everyone happy, and you’ll be safe. The problem is, you got so good at reading everyone else, you lost the signal to yourself. You stopped knowing what you actually want. If you are looking to loosen the grip in your system that people pleasing has on you….I have limited 1:1 for coaching starting in June.

The way you are sabotaging yourself with self talk which you don’t even realise you’re doing. I remember the first time I properly saw this.First day of a training modules and my trainer asked me what I wanted in life. On autopilot I replied:
“I don’t want to be trapped in pain, I don’t want to feel anxious, I don’t want…” Pause. Then he asked me:
“But what do you actually want instead?” 🧠 Our brains often have so much information about what we don’t want.
But your brain doesn’t register “don’t” the way you think. “I don’t want to feel anxious”
“I can’t mess this up” It still has to create the thing first.
That’s the frame. So you’re not avoiding it…
you’re reinforcing it. 👉 So instead, give your brain something to move towards. Try this for a week: Every morning, write three things you actually want to experience or do. Keep it small AND specific. “I want to go for a walk at lunch because it clears my head”
vs
“I feel anxious, I should go for a walk” “I want to feel steady in that meeting”
vs

Do you actually know what you want?
Not the polished answer. The real one.
Does the life you’re living actually feel like you?
Most people don’t. Not because they’re lost… because they’ve never had the space or the right framework to find out.
It can feel like the kind of question that needs a year off and a backpack. But clarity doesn’t come from escaping your life. It comes from interrupting how you usually respond inside it.
That’s why I LOVE this technique that my coach taught me years ago.
Something happens when you add that third “really.” It catches the automatic answer off guard — the one that’s always ready, always rehearsed.
There’s a tiny pause.
And in that pause, there is something that opens. That something is less familiar, but more honest, that gets a chance to come through.
Try it. Tell me what comes up.
And “I don’t know” is a perfectly good place to start. 🙏

So many celeb documentaries these days are just puff pieces. This @noahkahanmusic doc @netflix is something incredibly special. It screams genuine authenticity not fake produced moments, so many raw real moments with his family actually unfolding in real time. I wasn’t massively aware of his music which incidentally is stunning in doc, you don’t need to be to watch this just be a human wanting to feel like it’s ok to be a human. #lifecoaching #noahkahan #noahkahanfans

I remember the first time I tried self-hypnosis and visualisation. You know that feeling when you are so clenched up that you have become scared to relax. I was braced for it to be something else I couldn’t do to add to the pile, but instead, I just felt my chest, my jaw and my head finally... soften, my thoughts slowed. The sheer relief. I still remember it vividly. It was a total revelation! I’d tried so so many things. It remains the most reliable way I know to find ease when things feel sharp. So if your mind is looping right now, maybe don’t try to argue with it. You can’t talk a racing heart into standing still. You have to shift your state.
This is a 2-minute guided visualisation to interrupt the pattern.
The intention: To bring you peacefully back into your body
